How to Make a Simple Cat Toy

Does your cat love toy play? I will show you how to make a simple cat toy out of household objects.

Step one: You will need a small square piece of fabric.

Step two: You will need to collect a small amount of lint, out of your dryer.

Step three: Roll the lint into a ball shape. Put the lint in the middle of the fabric square.

Step four: Bring up the corners of the fabric square, so you can no longer see the lint ball.

Step five: Get a rubber band and wrap it around the top of your fabric.

Step six: Next get a piece of yarn, about the length of your arm span. Wrap it around the top of the lint ball and tie it.

Now you have a simple toy for your cat.

Dog Stairs or Ramp? Why and What I Got.

Does my dog need help up on the bed? Do I need a ramp or stairs?  I have a wiener dog, I got steps for her. They help her to get up on my high bed. I don't like her jumping and she loves to get up and snuggle in. If you have any small, injured or elderly dog it is a good idea not to have them jumping. You might want to get a ramp or stairs to assist them. But what do you get? A ramp or stairs? Well.... I got stairs, it is optimally up to you but here are my thoughts on it.

If your dog has had a prior injury or elderly I would go with a ramp. If you live in a one-level home and the dog has never experienced stairs I would lean towards a ramp, it could be less daunting for the dog. If your dog is perfectly mobile and had experienced stairs I would lean toward stairs.

If you have a dachshund many people say stairs are bad they should not go up and downstairs at all. We have stairs in our house. I'm not going to be able to stop her from going up and down.  Personally, I don't think stairs are that big of a deal. I worry more about her whipping around corners. But just like a person, you can only protect them so much. And their dogs they don't understand. There will probably be a little training with whatever you go with. I went with the stairs because we already have stairs in our house, and it is much better for her than jumping.

Arm sleave Dog Sweater (small)

Now it's getting towards winter. And getting cold outside, if you have dogs they are certainly bound to get cold just like you. Would you like to make them a sweater. or even a Christmas gift? This is a easy and simple arm sleeve sweater.

Do you have old sweaters laying around? If not you can easily get some Goodwill or your local thrift Market. we have small dogs a dachshund chiweenie a wiener dog dachshund mix. the sweaters are made for small dogs. If you have a large dog this pattern may not work for you.

Take a sweater and cut one of the arms off. Now figure out where the dog legs, will go two holes in the appropriate spot for them. I only made two holes for the front feet only sweater I made. But if  yours is long enough that you need for front and back feet holes you can cut those. you can sell around the hole if you want to but it is not necessary.

This hardness is very easy to make at home from upcycled materials.

There are some video tutorials that will take you through the process step by step,to show you how to do it.

How to make the t-shirt yarn
How to meshure the dog for the harness

                                                       How to make the harness

How to put the harness on the dog

WARNING: This harness is not to be pulled on extremely hard, if it is it may fray and brake. If you see any fraying I strongly suggest to make a new one, for your pet's safety. I am not responsible for anything that happens to your pet with or without the 2 in 1 harness.

DIY Dog Chew toy

I will teach you how to make a dog “Chew Rope” toy. So if you want to make a toy for your dog this is a good way.

Step One: Cut 27 pieces of yarn about 4 feet long.

Step Two: Cut 1 piece of yarn to 3 feet long, that will act as a ruler.

Step Three: Take 3 pieces of the 4 foot yarn, tie them all together at the top.

Step Four: Use a piece of tape to hold the pieces to a table.

Step Five: braid the three pieces together,in a traditional braid.

Step Six:When you think it is long enough, measure with the 3 foot piece of yarn. You want it at least this long.

Step Seven:If it is long enough tie it off at the end of the braid.

Step Eight : Cut the ends off that are not braided. Leave just about ½ an inch below the knot, so it won't come untied.

Step Nine: repeat steps steps 3-8 for the rest of the strings. you should have nine braids.

Step Ten: take three of your braids, tie all of them together 1-2 inches down from the top.

Step eleven: braid 3-5 inches. Tie a knot a the bottom of the braid.

Now comes the tricky part, but you can do it!

Step twelve: you might have more lose below the knot, at the bottom than at the top. If you do 1-2 inches down pinch the braid between your fingers and cut it just below that. Now retie it, do that for all three braids.

Step Thirteen: repeat steps 10-12. You should now have three braids. (make sure to make the braids on all three as close to size as you can)

Step Fourteen: tie the three braids together, tape them to the table, braid all three braids together once you reach the end of the braids tie a knot at the bottom. Now you are done!

Pretty pet's collar

Take three pieces of yarn, all different colors. Make the pieces long enough to go around your pet’s neck twice. Tie all three of the pieces together a few inches in from the top. Braid them together long enough to go around your pets neck, plus a little just so you’re sure it won’t be too small. Tie a not at the end of the braid so it won’t come undone. Repeat that process three times so you have three braids.

Now hold all three braids together and tie a not at the top so it holds the braids together. Braid all three of the magnificent braids together. Tie a not at the bottom. Tie the collar to fit on your pet’s neck (not to tight, since this collar will have no connection, it will need to be big enough to fit over the pets head.) Cut the strings that hang down so they don’t drag on the floor.  Realize this is only a pretty collar (not meant too replace the main collar.)

Make your Cat a catnip Toy

I like to make a gift for each of our pets at Christmas. Since Christmas is getting close I started making the gifts. I made our cat a catnip toy. I will show you how to make it today.

Step one take a sock and cut it just below the heal.

Step two crochet two chains one for the ears and one for the tail. Loop the ears around so they look like two ears. (Optional)
Step three hand sew the ears and the tail in place

Step four cut two opposite pieces of velcro. Either hand sew or machine sew them on the top so it will close.

Step five draw a face on it. (Optional)

Step six stuff with stuffing, and put a good amount of catnip in it. Close it tightly.
