Raising Pink Spotted Ladybugs in Live Ladybug Land

Have you ever wanted to watch ladybugs grow through their amazing life cycle? In this hands-on nature project, I raised pink spotted ladybugs in my Live Ladybug Land and then released them into our yard.

Raising ladybugs is a fun way to learn about insects while getting a close-up look at nature. Watching them change from tiny larvae into adult ladybugs is fascinating!

🐞 Raising Ladybugs in Live Ladybug Land

My ladybugs spent their growing stages in the Live Ladybug Land, where I could observe them as they developed. They come in the mail as larva. They have food for their entire larva stage; all you have to do is give them water.

Ladybugs go through four main stages of life:

Egg → Larva → Pupa → Adult

The larvae look very different from adult ladybugs, which makes watching the transformation especially interesting. Eventually, the larvae form pupae, and in about two weeks, beautiful adult ladybugs emerge.

   

Once my pink spotted ladybugs became adults, it was exciting to see their colors and spots! At first, they are a pale orange color; then they change to pink and develop their spots. After they become fully matured adults you can feed then raisins cut up.

🌱 Releasing Ladybugs in the Garden

After raising and observing my ladybugs, it was time to release them into the garden.

I carefully placed the ladybugs among my garden plants and let them explore their new surroundings. It was exciting to watch them crawl onto the leaves and begin their garden adventure.

Ladybugs are also good for your garden because ladybug species eat small insects such as aphids.

Of course, ladybugs are free to go wherever they choose after being released. They may stay in the garden or move on to another area depending on food, weather, and shelter.

Sadly, I have not seen any of my ladybugs again.

A Fun Hands-On Nature Project

Transferring my baby Triops

I will show you how I transfer my tiny baby Triops into their big tank as they grow. Use a net of some sort to gently lift the fish. You need to make sure the new tank water is at a similar temperature to what they were previously in, so you do not shock them.

Road Id, Medical bracelet, why you need one?

 

 I have medical conditions that sometimes impact my life, which I totally embrace, and am thankful for the life the Lord has blessed me with.

 I think a little extra protection is smart. So I have a medical bracelet. If you are on medications or have allergies a medical ID is smart.

 Before I got one I used to think they all had to be bulky and red and frankly ugly. I thought that's all people would see of me and I thought they would be outrageously expensive, like hundreds of dollars!

Then I found "Laurens Hope" a great shop with beautiful interchangeable medical bracelets, at an affordable price. I had two of them over four years they kept getting caught on things and the chain would break. ( they are a great company with great products, but just not for my lifestyle) 

I was looking for something rugged and I found Road Id. They have all kinds. They are all-weather silicone which is good because I wear mine 24/7.

How to sign "See You Soon", in ASL

 

How to Make a Simple Cat Toy

 

Does your cat love toy play? I will show you how to make a simple cat toy out of household objects. 

Step one: You will need a small square piece of fabric.

Step two: You will need to collect a small amount of lint, out of your dryer.

Step three: Roll the lint into a ball shape. Put the lint in the middle of the fabric square.

Step four: Bring up the corners of the fabric square, so you can no longer see the lint ball.

Step five: Get a rubber band and wrap it around the top of your fabric.

Step six: Next get a piece of yarn, about the length of your arm span. Wrap it around the top of the lint ball and tie it.

Now you have a simple toy for your cat.
